And Thereby Hangs a Tale Observes the Devoted Life Through the Eyes of Man's Best Friend And Thereby Hangs a Tale book cover
St. Louis, Mo. - Author, musician and dog lover David Teems launches his latest book, And Thereby Hangs a Tale — What I Really Know About the Devoted Life I Learned from My Dogs, this week at ICRS in St. Louis. Teems kicked off a busy week with a booksigning at the Harvest House Publishers booth on Monday, followed by a busy day of interviews with media outlets inlcuding CBN, TCT and more. Last night, Teems led worship at the "Prayer for the Industry" event, sponsored by CBA and Evergreen Press. Part tribute, part confession and part requiem for three beloved and irreplaceable friends, the book explores the traits inherent to the dog — uncommon love, irrepressible joy, deep contentment, wonder, and fascination — and compares them to life with the Creator as it was meant to be, and can be.
Using dogs as a playful yet powerful image of devotion, Teems gives a glimpse of what the devoted life is all about: what it looks like, how it behaves, the possibility of attaining it, and what little work it takes to achieve it.
"A dog makes devotion look as if it is the best part of life. And why shouldn't it be?" asks Teems. "A dog worships his master, not as an isolated event, but as a vision of life, and with a love that saturates the whole of life, to the smallest particulars. That is the way we're meant to worship our Master as well."
David Teems, who has been in full-time Christian service for over 25 years, is the author of To Love is Christ and the upcoming Majestie — The King behind the King James Bible (Thomas Nelson), as well as a popular singer/songwriter with 7 albums to his credit. He and his wife Benita live in Franklin, TN with their dog Sophie. For more information, visit davidteems.com or harvesthousepublishers.com.
